Choosing the right home inspector can be a very difficult task. Unlike most professionals, you probably will not get to meet me until after you have hired me. Furthermore, different inspectors have varying qualifications, inspection equipment, focus on fine details, how long they spend at your home, reporting methods, (I will e-mail a PDF report with pictures and narrative descriptions), and of course different pricing. A home inspection requires a lot of work and dedication so shopping for a cheap price is something that should not be done. A quality home inspection for this very large investment of yours should take about 2 ½ to 3 ½ hours at the inspection site followed by a 16 to 20 page thorough report; some reports are even longer. Ultimately, a thorough inspection depends heavily on the individual inspector’s own efforts.
